Sedation Can Improve Your Child’s Comfort at the Dentist

Visiting the dentist can be scary and intimidating, especially for children! At Tots to Teens Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we understand that creating a positive environment for kids can have a life-long impact on their perspective of the dentist. Our mission is to ensure our patients feel completely at ease when they visit our office and that they leave with a smile! In addition to our friendly, personable team, we are proud to offer a variety of safe sedation options to provide a relaxing, stress-free experience for our young patients!

Nitrous Oxide

This sweet-smelling gas is a mild sedation option administered via comfortable nose mask. It is safe for children with dental anxiety or ones undergoing a minor dental procedure. Nitrous oxide puts patients into a relaxed, calm state of being. Their limbs may feel heavy and and a bit tingly. The effects wear off when they stop breathing the gas in.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is a prescribed pill to be taken before the appointment begins. This form of sedation is great for patients undergoing a complex dental treatment or series of procedure. It provides patients with a deep sense of relaxation. Under oral conscious sedation, patients will still be conscious and able to communicate during the treatment, though they will feel drowsy and may fall asleep.
